Chocolate chips I prefer Gittard milk chocolate
Non stick cooking spray
Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly. Very important that they are completely dry.
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl (I prefer glass). Cook for one minute and spray generously with non stick cooking spray. (chocolate chips are made to hold their shape so they don't melt as easily as baking chocolate, but when sprayed with non stick cooking spray they soften and melt more smoothly.) Stir well and then return to microwave for 30 seconds. Spray again if needed. Stir. Repeat the 30 second step until chips are almost melted. Stir till the chocolate is melted completely. Take your time. If the chocolate gets too hot it will turn white and dull when it dries. If it's not smooth, spray it some more till you like the way it looks. Smooth, but not too thin.
Dip the strawberries in the chocolate. Lay them on waxed paper to dry.
If you want to stripe them. Melt white chocolate chips the same was you did the chocolate and dip a butter knife or a spoon in the chocolate and drip across the strawberries.
I made these strawberries in February and the tops weren't very red. :( THEY LOOK MUCH BETTER WHEN THE TOPS ARE RED!
Try these. Really. They are so easy, but they look so impressive and who doesn't love chocolate covered strawberries? :)
